Eagan-based JumpTech Announces Twin Cities Debut of Nabbit, a New Interactive Radio Application that Enables Listeners to Buy What They Hear

Eagan, MN., November 5, 2007—Jump Technologies, Inc. (JumpTech™) (http://www.jumptech.com) announced today the Twin Cities debut of a free, interactive application for radio listeners called Nabbit™ that enables them to—tag or “Nabb™”—information about what they hear, such as songs, concert announcements or advertisements on the radio by pressing a key on their cell phone. Once Nabbed, listeners log on to their personal web account at Nabbit.com to manage and act on the Nabbed information.

Nabbit is being debuted in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area with a national rollout planned for early 2008. Currently, Nabbit has access to any song or advertisement played on over 3,000 radio stations nationwide within 20 seconds of its airing.

Radio listeners simply program the buttons on their cell phone the same way they set the preset buttons on their radio. For example, when they hear a song they want to know more about or even download later, they press the key on their phone that corresponds to the station they are listening to and “Nabb-it.” Then, listeners log on to their personal page on Nabbit.com to see the song title in their personal account, where they can download it using services like iTunes, Napster, Wal-Mart or Amazon.com. Nabbit also gives listeners the option to check for concerts, download ring tones and view song lyrics. If they Nabb an advertisement, they click on the item at Nabbit.com to take advantage of promotions or purchase the product from the advertiser’s eCommerce site.

“I spend a lot of time listening to the radio,” says JumpTech Chairman John Freund. “I’m constantly hearing things that I want to remember, only to forget about them five minutes later. Nabbit solves the radio listener’s problem of hearing things on the radio that they want to act on but forget about when they are ready to take action.”

Value to Radio Stations

Nabbit can help radio stations attract new listeners looking for music to add to their collections. It can also generate new advertising revenue streams by bringing in new advertisers wanting to drive Internet traffic. The pricing model also brings some advertising dollars back to the radio station that have been allocated to Internet advertising since the combination of radio and the Internet will likely prove to be more effective for the advertiser. Finally, by collecting data from listeners’ Nabbing habits, station program directors can develop a more compelling mix of content for both listeners and advertisers. This results in more loyal listeners, who will listen longer, and more advertisers signing contracts.

Minneapolis’ B96 is the first radio station to embrace Nabbit in the Twin Cities. “At B96, we pride ourselves on providing the best radio listening experience possible,” said Steve Woodbury, president and CEO of Northern Lights Broadcasting and owner of B96. “Nabbit truly makes radio interactive and provides a great benefit for our listeners who are looking to extend their radio experience to the web and our advertisers who are looking for ways to make their advertising dollars go further.”

Value to Advertisers

Advertisers benefit from Nabbit because it allows radio listeners to react to their ads the moment they hear them. Nabbit’s personalization feature lets the advertiser create a unique landing page tailored to the demographics of the person responding, which creates a personalized experience that will increase ad effectiveness. “We’re always searching for quantifiable ways to measure the results of our ad spends,” said Johnny Reimann, a media planner with PHD, part of Omnicom Media Group (OMG). “Using Nabbit is a tangible way to do this in the radio medium. When it takes off, advertisers will be able to better measure success; similar to the way online ads can be tracked. Nabbit could encourage companies to allocate more of their ad budgets back into radio.”
